Muhammet Erkan was born in 1973 in Hamzalı village, Vakfıkebir, Trabzon. He completed primary and secondary education in Vakfıkebir and attended Trabzon High School as a boarding student before entering Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine in 1992.
He graduated as a physician in 1998 and worked as a General Practitioner in Bayburt and Trabzon.
